I hated mentioning his part of the story because I don't enjoy putting people in a weird light. But that part of the story was important. Prior to finding him, I was told he was an excellent BMW tech. And he was very nice. Was happy to come to my trailer. He just missed on the execution. And, even if I could experiment with disconnecting the shifters, I probably would still have driven to get the steering wheel. I just could have avoided dragging the trailer up and over the Grapevine both directions. That climb is pretty steep and the truck is working hard to pull 10k lbs over it.
