Just got the car out of the shop in an attempt to remove the driveshaft "clunk" by replacing the CSB. Upon inspection, the CSB was perfectly fine (also replaced Guibo 5k miles ago). It seems the U-Joint is the issue, which is not serviceable. This likely means new driveshaft. The good news is there are options:
- Turner Motorsport (
see here) has a remanufactured version (via Turner, ECSTuning etc.) for about $1,100. The benefit of this version is it allows for future replacements of the U-Joint's (i.e. you run into this issue again, you can service the U-Joint and not replace the entire unit).
- Dorman (
see here) also provides a new OEM replacement unit for $600 - a much more cost effective option.
- Carbon Fiber options, although I believe most of these will add some harmonic vibration (could be wrong).
- Driveshaft Specialist of Texas - remanufactured (
