Good news! Engine has arrived and is being installed. They loaned me a 2020 330i so I got to experience the electric steering. Now i understand the lack of feel that it has. I am guessing the steering in the newer m3 and m4 is similar. The tech is cool, i like the hud, the active engine sounds are kind of cool but it doesn't have that visceral feel that I get with my m3. It seems to be a comfortable daily cruiser. interior is smaller than I expected.
Bad news Warranty guy who was inspecting my car said they wont honor warranty with my modded oil pan with the dipstick or underdrive pulleys, so they cannot be installed on new engine unless i want to void the warranty. I found it interesting that test pipes were ok? the new engine looks like it might be a 2010 or newer based on the oil cover with the yellow writing. Not sure how accurate that is though, I believe all the engine pictures i've seen with yellow writing on oil cover have been on engines newer than 2009 as far as I am aware. I am hoping the shop will let me see it in person.
Anyway, I am chomping at the bit to get this thing back and break in the engine.
