On AiM SmartyCam, there are two gain controls, internal and external. I thought that by plugging external microphone, it will shut down the internal. Alas, this is not the case.
Turning down the internal microphone gain to Zero solved the clicking and wind noise (driving with open windows). Now pure clean V8 sound from the exhaust is awesome via the external mic on the bumper
