I agree that it seems that it is best to have the belt and receiver on the inside of the seat. However as I researched deeper and deeper I found some examples of production cars that placed the receiver on the outside - like the Carrera GT. Now of course I can't find any more examples other than that. At this point I chose to compromise with a seat that fits me properly but doesn't allow for the seatbelt receiver on the inside. I'm OK with that risk as the belt continues to fit firmly on my lap. I wonder if there's another receiver that could be used on the E92 that provides the ability to be routed to the inside. I know there are options that delete the pretensioner charge but I think that would detract from the safety. Did you ever look into that?

I retained pretensioner functionality:
I don't know if it works on the e9X, but on the e46 a lot of people take one of the rear lap belt receivers and run them up front. They're not rigidly mounted (because they lack the pretensioner), so they can pass through the 4/5/6 point lap belt hole without issue. I believe that to be the lesser evil, if you have to choose between a loose seatbelt or nixing the pretensioner (if for no other reason than I don't think the pretensioner would do anything useful if the belt isn't in contact with you because of the seat).
I wish I had a better picture of it, but I'm even using the pretensioner with my 6 point-- on the inboard side I'm using a quick fit lap belt mount for the factory receiver
