We have way too many laws already. Protecting people from themselves is really not the proper role of government in my view. I’m also pretty skeptical of the proposition that all of the people paying for such services are being defrauded. Different people have their separate reasons for doing things. Maybe some are being genuinely misled due to their own naïveté, but others may just think it’s fun, or desire to suspend disbelief. I don’t believe in supernatural psychic powers either, but I can’t affirmatively disprove it any more than I could disprove the existence of God. Don’t you think it’s a bit presumptuous to declare that your own refusal to believe in something you can neither prove nor disprove should be mandated on everyone else?
Houdini made a living debunking this stuff. If you want to go on a crusade, do that. But spare me more laws to save people from themselves.
