You are going to be unable to get the pump you need. BMW no longer has or makes them. If they told you otherwise then the pump that shows up will not work again like none of mine did. It takes about $1500 in additional parts to change the whole pulley system and oil filter housing over to the post 2008 setup.... BMW doesnt really tell anyone this and has made me want to sell all my m3's
We are resorting to buying a few underdrive pulleys and going to see if we can make something work that way via single sided belt system.
The reason your new pump didnt work is because your pulley/belt layout was spinning it backwards do to them going from CW to CCW rotation and from double sided belt to single.
your car came with / needs a pump ending in 041 and the only pumps available now are 002 and 003. I bought a new one from BMW, a remanned one from Bosch and both are same.
Been without car now for a month and have found a dozen other people with same issue. I dont care what any "expert" says there are really one two options here and getting the correct pump is not one of them unfortunately.
Some people we called acted like it was obvious and we should have know about it but then failed to mention we would also need to change oil filter housing after seeing what all parts we had listed to change. This leads me to believe they might not really know?
