Ok, I think I had it wrong.

So block the vent that is hooked to the airbox, not the one that is open to thw engine bay, is that correct?
The top of the airbox, where the drivers side hood vent (on left hand drive cars) meets the airbox at the top. Both the front bumper inlet and this vent go right into the airbox and will never be subject to direct heat from the engine bay. It's open to engine bay heat if the hood is open, but not when closed.

On another note, I get my car back on Friday, it's looking fantastic. Hoping to put the larger injectors in and some E85 tuning if time permits next weekend.
