I've seen cars here at the forum with the hood vent covered like you said and it sure looks like it helps.
I really would like to go for a ride an a Harrop equipped M3, but I am yet to find one in SE FL.

If the noise is tolerable at cruising, this may change the whole thing. I really don't care about the noise at high RPM.
