I figured this was coming as soon as Mercedes announced they were building the W205 in Alabama for US consumption and when BMW announced that Rosslyn will be building X3s. Most likely, the plant will serve as the only source for 3ers for North America and maybe many Latin American countries minus Brazil since they have their own BMW plant. Like Mercedes does with the W205, all North American cars are built domestically and the Bremen plant only builds cars for Europe. Munich will be the same for Europe.

Only difference between Merc and BMW is that I'm sure as Scott has stated that the M3 will be built in Germany unlike the US C63, which is also built in Alabama. I get that people want a German built car but to be honest if you really think a tall blond named Hans is screwing your car together then you have another thing coming. I have toured the Mercedes and Porsche plants and over half of their workers are foreigners rather if they were born in Germany or not who knows. The point is that quality is dependent on the design and engineering of the car not on the one guy who screws in a bolt in your center console. Mexico has a presence from every major manufacturing company in the world including Ford, GM, FCA, Honda, Toyota, Mazda, VW, Audi, and Nissan. Obviously there is enough skilled labor...

Side note, the only Mexican made car I have owned is a MK VII Golf and that thing is solid with no rattles or issues.
