It doesn't need a tender at all, it has been fine for up to three weeks. I would not hesitate to use as a daily solution. It will shut itself down at a threshold, so as to protect itself, and not go to zero voltage, and can be turned back on using the button on the top of the unit.

I had a custom clamp made to secure it for the track, but used the existing battery connections. It is substantially smaller than the stock unit.
