Everyone has different opinions on this matter. I guess I'll go by this:
The e92 bearings are speced to tight
People don't break them in, or warm them up properly
People only complain when something is wrong
People supercharge or mod engines
BMW set ridiculous oil change intervals
Oil analysis may or may not tell something, depending on the year.
Since I bought mine new, and have been with it since the beginning, I'm in no rush to sell it. When the time comes, I'll probably do the bearings. But if BMW made 80,000 of these cars, and 5,000 fail, and 2,000 are due to improper owner care, then is it really something to worry and sell the car over?
My M3 has been good to me, the best. I'm not going to throw it away because it might do something 80,000 miles from now.
