A reman part, typically the engine or trans, means that the dealership took out only the specific part that failed. After this, they reassembled the engine or trans, and put in brand new fluid. So as a person who's owned many cars, and had quite a few reman dealer parts, this is a fact. I personally now have much more faith in an engine from a wreck (The wrecked engine, has not previously failed), than a dealer reman. If the engine was from a wreck, and you were worried about the bearings, you could simply change whatever part will make you sleep well at night. So my advise is to ditch the car after the engine warranty ends.

BMW Re-manufactured engines are not engines that simply had the faulty parts replaced... You should know this...
One of my company's largest clients is BMW Financial Services as I work in the automotive wholesale business, where we sell their company cars...
Even their company cars have catastrophic engine failures from time to time and we install BMW re-manufactured engines in their cars before we sell them-straight from the factory, so I am thoroughly aware of how their re manufactured process works...
These engines are broken down and only undamaged components are assessed and every part goes through a thorough reapplication process including measured tolerances and honing if necessary... All the seals, including piston rings, bearings, gears, chains are new and even the block is stripped, cleaned, and repainted...
Ask any engine builder and they will tell you that this is essentially a new engine...
I fully trust that this engine was re-manufactured with likely more precision and a higher quality control standard than that of the original engine that came off the assembly line...
In fact, if it was not for the poor quality control standards of the original engine off the assembly then guys like me would have never had to worry about catastrophic bearing failure...
