Now, the fuel pressure sensor...that was very noticeable. Driving regularly (which means D7) and hit the throttle a bit because...hell, M3!... and it just suddenly went into "limp mode" with something like "Engine Failure" lights, kalaxxons, and bells of death. And 7 mph maximum speed....down hill. I drove it to the BMW Austin dealership and they first said it was a dirty fuel valve; but two days later the same thing happened and they identified it as a fuel pressure sensor, which they replaced; no problems since then. Well, not exactly. Once I was at idle, at a traffic light, and I noticed the engine had died. So that was weird.

So I don't put in a full tank of 100+ octane anymore!

Strange. I have run strictly 100 octane for over a year in my E90 M3 and haven't seen any of these kinds of issues. The car is supercharged and sees the track quite often and doesn't see much street duty anymore, so I just leave 100 octane in it. As far as I know, there are no special modifications to any fuel sensors. I don't even have a 100 octane tune.

Did you maybe run leaded racing fuel?
