The M5 isn't faster than the M3. Maybe slightly in a straight line, but in the corners it's a complete overweight pig. Reliability is also a lot worse for the M5. The SMG gearbox is terrible. It also has the problematic high pressure vanos system. And a few electric gremlins here and there. There is a reason why their value drops like a rock on the used car market.
