As you can see, there are plenty of options. I just know that I'm not waiting for BMW to help me. So far, I've switched to M1 0W40, do very regular oil changes, make sure the engine is warmed up properly, and always send my oil in to Blackstone so I can see the trend. Eventually, I'll do the rod bearings because I'm starting to get up there in mileage relative to the rest of the forum.
That IMO, is so much better than hoping for BMW to do something about it. I'd rather be proactive in all this than hope for the best. You can either enjoy this awesome car, or read too much into it on the forums.

Spot on ... being proactive and try to mitigate the damage. That's exactly what I am doing ... everything possible within my power to stop the shit happening. If it happens so be it. I am going to try M1 0w-40 for at least 12 months and see what the results are. If something happens in the 12 months and the engine goes kaput I'll accept it. Such is life. There are worst things happening in the world such as suddenly losing loved ones. This is only an engine.
I do understand Philippe's frustration and lack of support and acknowledgment from BMW. We cannot change that and unless something drastic happens (and I hope it doesn't), BMW will not initiate a campaign to do the bearings.
