With the catless x pipe, the sound was amazing. Every time I'm in a tunnel, or better yet stopped at a tool booth(slightly tunneled) and taking off, it reminds me of the good ol' 8 cylinder F1 cars. However there was obvious drone at 2-2.2k and around 3k rpm. Was tolerable for a youngin but it's there. The volume is also high. Downshifting attracted a crap load of attention. I use a speed shop for some stuff and they support track dedicated Porsches. This setup rivaled the off-road only machines.
After the swap, I thought my ears were plugged. Talk about quiet. I thought I made a mistake. However, after 20 or so miles, the volume increased. Louder than stock but not race car loud. Absolutely no drone. I take that back. Same drone as stock(minimal). I drove a buddy's stock setup(in cabin and following behind in both setups) and I'm in love with this setup. It's not boomy like the Challenge Race and still amazing when pushed.
Smell: The Challenge Race is bad. Holy crap it's bad. The Akra has no smell. I even closed my garage door and ran it for a minute or two(not long for obvious reasons) cause I thought wind was just blowing it away. Nadah, zip, zilch. This is one of the main reasons for switching.
No idea what the difference in power is. I'm supercharged(and finally sorting out boost leak issues) so I'm not overly concerned about 10-30 hp :P
