They are indeed shorter than some of the other brands out there. I was looking at the pic and realize that Evolve Automotive seemed to have designed the test pipe to be a "slip-on" style fitment. My assumption is these will slip on over the OE XPipe and those thin clamps are used to crimp or tighten the two together for a secure lock.

On my E46 M3, I have a similar type of slip-on flange between the headers and the section 1 (mid-pipe) and it has proven to be rather reliable. No exhaust leaks, no rattles, no worry about failing gaskets or misalignment. My E46 is driven all year round too in the salty and damp winters.

Anyone at Evolve Automotive, feel free to correct me if my assumptions are incorrect.
