There should be some sort of "Poor Service Award" for dealerships that provided messy service like I received In Idaho Falls, Idaho during my so many years planned x-country trip when my e89 2009 brand new Z4 35i developed a flat due to cracked wheel issues.
This nice dealership told this long time BMW customer ...
1) Service Manager ---> Your Canadian warranty is different then our US warranty ... they went on you have 2 options a) roadside assistance can tow you to the nearest Canadian BMW dealer or b) you order a new wheel then we ship the cracked one to Canada or you take it with you.
Naturally I believed them and ordered a new wheel.
2) Parts Manager ---> Once the new wheel arrived he told me "Sorry we don't change out wheels at this dealership this is done at a tire shop just down the street" So I followed him. The tire shop not only change the wheel they removed the RFT with 2 tire irons and bend the wheel.
3) Tire Shop .... I asked for all my wheels to be checked (something the BMW folks should have done) low and behold the other rear wheel also had 2 hairline cracks. The air was still holding so I decided to drive carefully back home hopping I make it.
Bottom line .... Once back in Canada the wheel with hairline cracks was replaced under warranty without question. The wheel that cracked and would not hold air the one that the tire shop removed with 2 tire irons was not replaced BMW declared "Sorry your wheel is bend" I wonder why LOL
Yes BMW drivers would benefit if there would be a "Poor Service Award" so we could stay far away from them.
