E91 Individual Audio Tweeter Pods in E90

Even though my E90 had individual audio, the rear doors used coax speakers vs. separates. Probably fine, as the rear deck has separates, but I went ahead and went nuts here as I happened to have a few extra BAVsound separates kicking around. I found a nice set of used pods from ebay (not super easy to find these to match the silver rings) from an E91 as that car had separates in the rear doors as the rear deck did not have separates.

I had to dremel out the pods to fit the bavsound tweets but the idea came to me after taking the door apart and seeing that there was a place for a tweeter pod as these cars probably share the same door panel. Just had to take a hole saw (used a diamond coated one) and I cut slowely with my hand on the leather to feel when it got through the panel. Then I peeled away the panel from the back, and made a slice in the leather with a knife then carved out the rest with scissors. The pod once secured hides the edges. Another thing i did was instead of using coax in the center channel, I created a coax style driver by floating a bavsound tweeter on top of the driver with a bracket I fabricated.

Have an Audison AF m12.14 and it’s running off high level inputs from the factory 676 harness. The issue I’m having is that it gets hot pretty quick. This happens whether the music is playing or not. With ignition on and everything muted it draws what seems like a lot of power. It’s killed my battery twice now. When I’m driving, it even makes my idle higher. Any suggestions on where I can look? My power is from the main power bolt, fused and into a 4 gauge distro block.
