What do all these things mean?

I thought that I was familiar with reputation, but even that puzzles me now. For instance, my reputation shows a different number under my name in a post, versus when I tap my name on the post. At least on the app

And when I go into my profile (top right of the app) I see wheels for both score and tier, what do these mean? and the score doesn’t seem to match reputation.

Not that any of this really matters (I’ll still post regardless lol), but I’m curious what all these things correlate to.
I think it's a mess. Liked it better the way it was.
I believe that it was recently mentioned that the whole reputation/score/rank system is still a work in progress during the forum conversions. My suggestion is to remain patient.....

Yes, I remember that being mentioned. As I said, I liked it the way it was. Based on what I'm seeing so far, I personally don't like the new way. Too cluttered, was simpler before. Change for the sake of change is not always better.
vreihen16's user avatarvreihen16 Esteban's user avatarEsteban yes its true, its nearing the point of finalization. It's just small massages to the math here and there that im still playing with. Otherwise the layout is pretty set

As for where you see the new vs old math, ive been doing a staged rollout, first it as in your username drop down (top right of screen), now its moved into the number under your name in posts. finally it will goto the user profile popup itself

Same here, there was no reason to change it.

From a user standpoint, sure. I'm betting the mods didn't change it for fun, though. Almost certainly there's security, cost and other things at play.

How about we hear it straight from the horses mouth. apptest's user avatarapptest? Or do we require a high level security clearance. Maybe if you tell us, then you'll have to kill us. :D

There’s many reasons. But keep in mind I invented the first version you guys like too, so I know all the flaws it has had from the outset. So this is an evolution of that imperfect one. Really it’s just a slight modification of the math. I think it’s blown out of proportion as to what the change actually is. Because there isn’t a change except some math tweaks. A lot of things people have trouble adjusting to but after a few weeks you get used to it or forget what the conplaint was. So I have trouble answering this because from my POV the change has been the mathematical balance and nothing else.
apptest's user avatarapptest what do score and tier mean?

Well for how it’s calculated that’s for me and only me to know. That’s like asking McDonald’s secret sauce. But if you are really dedicated you can derive it from the reputation history

Gotcha. It’s all based on the same reputation. I wasn’t sure if it had to do with something else.

Ya all the same. The tier (I directly renamed it to “rank”) is a number representation of the rank such as private, lieutenant or general, etc

I was actually commenting on the overall forum change, not the reputation or whatever. I meant that the overall change to the site was for security, cost, things like that and wasn't changed on a whim.

On that note, why did the site change, overall?
