Lets give blame where blame is due. Different materials and construction have different thermal expansion rates and it is easy to control the amount and direction of that expansion. What Mercedes did was legal as far as I can tell. The HOLE in the rule book was not specifying that the tech would be handled at a temp near operating temp. My question is why didn't everyone see the issue and gain compression via engineering? Second question is who in the FIA didn't see this coming considering how this is handled in other series?

Anyway, it will certainly be interesting to see how many of the Merc-powered cars will announce ICE replacement before Monaco. If a lot are doing it then it's strengthens the theory that Merc has higher compression, but if few announce ICE replacement it certainly weakens this theory.
