What to get for daily?

I find the Honda Fit to be incredibly fun, especially manual versions. The shifter is great on these. It has almost double of the cargo space of the fiesta as well.

I use the big plastic bags that fit tires. All the tire places should have these. I guess that's what real men use?

I've used tire totes to get multiple sets of "grubby" summer, winter, and track tire & wheel combos for various vehicles up and down between the basement and garage for many years. Plus, on a couple occasions loaded and unloaded a set using a small hatchback, no muss no fuss. Did do the hitch mounted cargo tray thing back when I regularly visited tracks in the region.

I'm 69 now so highly doubt I still meet the minimum qualifications for "pretty boy" status. Although, I've been doing a little googling and come to find out some actually find wrinkled, gray, balding, with a bit of a bulge in the middle quite appealing, so who knows?


btw, does the OP want to chime in on what they're still considering for purchase, or is this thread beyond hope?

Been driving this 90d for the whole weekend and starting to think I'm going to have to change E65 for one of these. I got two diesel cars and diesel prices and taxes are very high in Finland. I do all work on my cars and seems that these can be worked fine diy these days. Only thing is the battery that makes a little thinking as looking for 16-18 facelift one and no warranty. But they seem to be pretty realiable(?). Other parts are cheap to buy new or used.

Other interesting options for me is F01 730d or G31 520d but that would not resolve two diesel issue.

Used Model 3 AWD for the win.
If you don't drive much, it will require zero maintenance for years to come (other that tires and wiper blades) and near-zero cost per mile ($0.03 / mile when charging at home). Zero downtime maintenance or extended storage care required.

Can be had for $15-20K for samples with 25-50K miles. Drivetrain and battery warranty are good for 8 years / 120K miles, so anything below that is covered. Samples with ~100K miles can be had for $12-15K, but by then a suspension refresh (upgrade!?) is in order.

Unstoppable in the winter on winter tires.
0-60 in ~4.2 seconds (3.7 seconds with AB) on summer tires.
Same cabin space and wheelbase as 3-series.

Borrowed the 4th in that set for a roadtrip. I bring a spare wheel on road trips along with an aluminum floor jack, Milwaukee M18 impact and M18 inflator. Only needed it once, but it was a sidewall damage blowout from road debris that the slime kit would nit have fixed and I would have waited hours for a tow to some shop that probably wound have overcharged for a matching tire if they had one or could get it that day. I was back on the road in literally 5 minutes.

people shit of Tesla's all the time, but it has been one of the best cars I've ever owned...

I bought a M3P (model 3 perf) for my daily a few years ago...only thing I've ever had to do was replace the tires once and washer fluid.

Fast af, handles amazing, drives itself if you want and even parks itself for you if you want...has been flawless for 75K miles so far

I have about a 50 mile round trip for work and charge at home...sure is nice passing all the gas stations every day. Never have to worry about oil changes either. It is the perfect daily for anyone who has the ability to charge at home.

Yep, I've been charging at home and currently electricity price has been close to zero so very cheap fuel.

It does need some work. Instrument cluster display is bubbling, Upper DRL's are shot, some small squeeky sound from front shocks (very annoying though). Already did front upper control arms as those where shot and alignment at my work. And it sits on coil suspension so gotta order H&R springs.
