Can you recommend a good car/SUV cover?

I may be getting a Seal Skin with lifetime warranty for X5. It is not cheap but lifetime replacement warranty. The 320i also needs one and maybe I will get something cheaper. Thanks.

Covercraft & California Car Cover offer a number of options with quality performance.

Custom Covercraft is all I used when I needed one. Don't cheap out.

I had an outdoor California Car Cover that I used on a Mercedes CLK430 and then transferred it to a CLK500 and it lasted for about 20 years. They are expensive but sell a quality product.

If it for outdoor use make sure to order a cover with the side mirror pockets and also order bungee cords and clamps to prevent the cover from blowing off in heavy wind. 😉

This. Also buy the model that suits the purpose. Inside/outside/all weather etc.

For the X5, Seal Skin is a strong move, especially with the lifetime replacement warranty. Just a word of caution for any high-end cover used in the Bay Area: ensure the car is 100% clean before you put it on. Even a light layer of Peninsula dust trapped under the fabric can act like sandpaper on the clear coat over time as the cover moves with the wind.

I second California Covers for reasonably priced, excellent covers.

Thank you. I guess this is true with any car cover including good ones. I just read that it has to be clean somewhere else but thanks for the tip. The car or truck has to be perfectly clean. I just have a one car garage which has some stuff in it.

I have gone away from car covers. They have their place and I used them for years. The problem is they can really damage your car if not used correctly. Putting a dirty or wet car under a cover and then removing the cover which slides over the surface leaves scratches. So recently I have gone to these instead. These are Ikuby Retractable Carports – Foldable Lockable Car Shelter, Heavy Duty All Weather Portable Garage for Cars and SUVs They are about $900 each and work well for the most part but not for winters now or high winds. Winter is a lot of work with these as they can not take any snow loading. You need to remove the snow almost immediately.
