After buying this new to me 11/2014 103k mile / 166k km 1 owner always dealer maintained F80 M3 i did some investigation into what would be a good major service to tackle most of the ''weak spots'' of the S55 and F8x platform so it will be good to go for a few years.

I did all the maintanance on my E91 N52B25 myself for almost 8 years from 157k miles to 283k miles so i am quite well known to the general BMW layout and weakspots + diagnostics like ista inpa.

My major service consisted out of:

- OFHG and thermostat gasket together with O ring for the oil cooler pipes
- My oil cooler didnt look great and had a lot of little stones lodged between the fins, i managed to find a as good as new used one from a 2021 car. Mine is 2014.
- Turbo inlet seals, these harden in the hot turbo housing causing leaks especially visable on the front turbo which connects to the PCV pipe seeping oil across the front of the turbo
- Replacement of coolant for charge cooler and engine with OEM Glysantin G48
- sparkplugs
- all filters
- Belts and tensioners for waterpump and ac/alternator.
- diff oil which needs to be done every 5th oil change which was now.
- Recharge/vaccuum of the AC which i had done at the BMW dealer.
- Boroscope each cylinder and intake valves.
- Replaced the engine oil with Shell 0w30 ECT SP.

Before hand i ordered the special 12 point thinwalled sparkplug socked and the E torx spanner for the OFHG.

Wherever it was possible i tried to go with original BMW parts, also a hard learned lesson from my E91 where i replaced some parts 3 times in 8 years while the original one lasted 12+ years.

Because the way the S55 is constructed i decided i was going to do all of this in one go because otherwise the coolant has to be drained multiple times for both systems, also after the opening of the oil circuit at the OFHG the engine had to be primed according to the N55 priming instruction. Obviously i only wanted to do this once to minimise risks hence why i decided to do the oil cooler at the same time.

Seeing that the car was alway dealer maintained showed me that the service was done according to BMW intervals and with OEM parts, however it also teached me that the dealer does not go further then that. For example the oil cooler hose was rubbing in its clamp, a few more years and it would be worn through leaking oil and potentially causing engine damage. This was a simple fix by just turning the protective part 180 degrees so it will last another 10 years.
Also all the coolers at the front of the car where full of leafs and stones. In the longterm in our humid climate this would start to rot the cooling fins.

I also removed all under paneling, wheel inner fenders and the sills to remove build up of mud, leafs and dust. I have learned this the hard way from the E91 where this already was too late and caused the formation of rust.

The reason why i didnt do the DCT fluid replacement is because other peoples UOA have came out so good that i will wait till 200K km / 124k miles.

This car is used as a daily for approx 8k to 12k miles a year and doesnt see track use.

Within 10k miles i expect the wear sensor for the rear brakes to trigger so that will probably be the next maintenance item.

The maintenance that was done here costed me just over 1100 euros for:
- Dealer AC recharge 120 euros
- Oem BMW parts 704 euros
- 13l oil Shell 0w30 135 euros
- 20l Glysantin G48 concentrate 136 euros
- E torx wrench and thinwalled socket of alixpress was around 10 with shipping.
