greyspoke wrote I've looked through what I can find, but I am trying to confirm that going +1/2" in wheel width and slightly wider tire will work without rubbing on a stock suspension.
Wheels:
18x9" ET30 with 255/40r18
18x10" ET25 with 275/40r18
Considering the Continental Extremecontact DWS 06+
This is street only car driven on poor roads so I'm looking for wheel protection and a little comfort coming from stock 220m with PS4S* tires in stock size.
Will this work?
I know seems to have the tire size working with the 219m rims. Will the extra 1/2" wheel cause an issue?
For a bit of an apples to apples comparison, yes I am running 255/40 and 275/40, but I am running the Continentnal Extreme Contact Sport 02 (not the DWS06). Unclear if they are like-for-like in actual dimensions as sometimes that can vary, but being from the same manufacturer, I think it is fair to assume that they are the same
The offset is effectively identical between the 219m and 220m, but with the added width, I suppose your backspacing is going to sit about 6-7mm further - with running the same tire size, I don't think this is really going to impact with the offsets being within 1-2mm of each other (219m vs 220m).
I am, however, running spacers on mine 12mmF/10mmR.
That should mean that your front tire will be roughly 1/2" closer (0.51"?) to the suspension and your rear tire will be effectively the same at 1/2" closer (0.47"?) as I am running spacers.
I rub ever so slightly on the fender liner up front at full lock only after the tires have got some good heat in them. Cold they never touch. Given where they touch, I'd say it's because the wheels have an additional ~1/2" offset from standard. Had I not ran spacers, I don't think I'd touch anywhere. Factory non-ZCP EDC suspension.
I'd say you're good to go with the minimal chance of rubbing should you make the decision to add spacers.
