Any recommendation for DIY Ceramic coating product with 1yr + life?

Can anyone recommend at home Ceramic product that will last over 12 months per application? Does such a product exist? There are many listed with tall claims on Amazon but reading through the reviews, their claims to longevity were suspect.

And I believe other brands like Mckee's 37, meguairs, adam's have their own as well.

The main thing for you is to make sure the surface is very clean before application. Whether you polish or not (you should, at least lightly), you'll want to clay bar and then panel wipe before ceramic application.

The good news is that it's never been easier to DIY a coating. They're so much more forgiving and easy to use. Don't forget quality towels - that means 70/30 fiber split. Go for at least 300 weight.

They way you worded your OP, it souds like you're incredulous that there could exist products that last 12m+ well, there certainly are. In fact, most coatings will do 24 months up to 60. Gyeon Pure and Mohs are my favorites.

OP, are you specifically looking for a product that has short term durability but lasts a minimum of 1 year? Or were you unaware of the tiers of products that can last much longer (2-3yrs, 3-5yrs, etc ...)? No wrong answer either way.

There are definitely products that last more than 1 year but recommendations will depend on what time/durability/life range you are seeking.

As Tbone stated, prep is key so ensure good bonding. Poor prep + excellent ceramic product will still lead to subpar results. Similarly, periodic maintenance of the coating, as well as add a sacrificial 'top coat', can extend the life of a base ceramic coating.

Esoteric Detailing recommended I self-install Gyeon Can Coat if I don't want to get the car professionally detailed and coated. The expectation is 12 months of coating life.

Thanks and I understand reg the surface prep. Once the weather warms up I am planning to get my orbital polisher out to remove swirls and scratches. Since I will be dedicating the entire weekend to this surface prep activity it would be good to preserve the finish with a long lasting coating.

I just applied Adams Advanced Graphene coating. It was pretty easy overall the and the protection seems good. I was a bit nervous as I hadnt done it before but happy with the results. Did it a little at a time over the course of about 5 days.

pretty much any. I'm using Feynman at the moment. personally wouldn't believe anyones specs for duration but if you want to redo in a year then most brands are good. ive use cquartz in past and liked it. the new PAN coating has good reviews. just do a good prep, gentle washes down the road and most coatings will be good.

I will be doing a one or two stage paint correction as required prior to applying ceramic.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the brands on Amazon were subpar products or maybe older variants (Gyeon CanCoat comes to mind .... original version, I think, was only intended to last several months but the newer version lasts over a year). It's also very possible that a good portion of the people didn't prep right, apply it right, or otherwise maintain the coating.

Jeff, thanks. I will check out Adams and CarPro. I inspected my G05 today with an inspection light and fortunately 95% of the vehicle will only require 1 step correction. Regardless, it's a lot of prep work so I would naturally want the longest lasting coating.

PS - nice images on your flicker! I shot extensively as a pro until a few years ago

You might not need a coating to last a long time because you might want to polish the car again (which would remove coating) after 2, 3 or 4 years. The odds of you keeping swirls away for years are not good.

There are dozens of Ceramic coatings (avoid spray!) that claim 1+ years of durability. And there are dozens more entering the market every year.
Frankly, I haven't see any 3rd party tests to validate ANY of those cliaims.

This YouTuber is runnig a Ceramic coastings real-world test on 35 coatings, and is 6-months into the trial:
Longevity claims are highly questionable since they don't take into account your climate (AZ or AK - big difference) and how well you maintain your car (automatic car washes, or wash by hand?).

Personally, I've had 1+ years of durability with the following (in order of application, not peference):

• Adams Ceramic (was a PITA to level)
• Adams Graphene (easier)
• Gyeon's Mohs Evo (easiest)
• Mckees 37 Graphene Max (easy, and it sheets water off more than it beads -> fewer water spots!)

So far, all four are holding up perfectly fine.
Water spotting is an annoyance, unless you run out to blow the water off the surfaces with a leaf blower after the rain.

Glass coatings, on the other hand, are still an ongoing challenge.
I haven't found anything that lasts more than 6 months in real life before chattering kicks in!

I've had excellent success with the Adams Advanced Graphene line on my winter hauler. We go up to Mt.Hood frequently in the winter which gets a ton of dirt from the rocks/sanding they do for the roads and it just sprays away using a hose. No comparison to other cermics but previously with only wax on the winter ride it required a wash mit.

There is Dr. Beasley's "Pro" coating (especially if you have matte/frozen finish). I use their "regular" (non-pro) for my G87 in Frozen Portimao Blue and its fantastic! I have not tried their "pro" version though.

Thanks all, your responses have been very helpful with providing me options to research. For now, after a lot of you tube video comparisons (with a grain of salt at some) I am zeroing in on MOHS Evo. This video was helpful between my final two contenders :
Now researching the prep steps and wondering if Iron remover is a necessary step. My car is always garaged, doesn't get driven over 7-8K/Yr and apart from rock chips, doesn't have many micro scratches or swirls. I rinse less wash it a few times a year and follow that with wax so the surface is pretty shiny and clean..

I suspect that since my car is always garaged, any of these name brand ceramics will outlast my ownership of the vehicle.
