Welcome to my E92 build thread! I want to document (for prosperity and selfishly myself), the build process of my new to me E92 M3. I will be updating posts as the build progresses.
History:
I have been in the S65 game for almost a decade. I have a collector grade 2011 E92 and also owned an E90 that was a daily/track build that I loved. March 2024 I noticed on a E9X M3 FB community page that Jimmy N. from Signature Wheels had posted his E92 M3 up for sale. Many people know this car as it's a beautiful build that Jimmy and the previous owner started. As soon as I saw the posting I immediately reached out to him as I was considering moving from an E90 to an E92. Jimmy was awesome to work with knowing I had to sell the E90 first. We discussed what I would sell my M3 for and the transaction should be able to be completed in a time we both were happy with. Fortunately I found a local buyer who was awesome and the car was sold. July 4th, 2024, my dad and I drove from Cincinnati to Kansas City to pick up my new E92. The car was as advertised and the transaction went smoothly.
About the car at purchase:
The car came with a serious build list before I even touched it. Most importantly Jimmy had Chicane Motorsports build him a new S65 within the past 1,500 miles. Both the main and rob bearings were addressed during the build along with literally every single gasket. Supertech Titanium Valves, Springs, and retainers were installed to ensure the valvetrain was happy at high RPM. Most shockingly the power pulleys and Evolve R tune really made the car happy at mid range RPMs, much more so than any S65 I've driven.
Secondly, the car's brakes and suspension were taken care of with MCS and AP/Essex parts. The brake package is the best kit I've ever experienced on track, as it should be for the cost. The biggest opportunity I have which will be addressed in the upcoming seasons will be a rebuild of the MCS 2NWR kit that is on the car. I will be having MCS convert to external reservoir during the rebuild.
Since Ownership:
2024 has been a blast learning and coming to grips with a car that has such a high ceiling of performance from first ownership. I have upgraded the seating to a fixed bucket for the driver (OMP M Rain Art Seat and PCI mounts.) I am 6;3: and the Recaro's and OEM rails kept me way too high in the cabin. This made a significant difference in seat position and will also let me focus on driving instead of bracing myself for turns. I've done some light weight reduction, gone back to a standard wheel and been tinkering with the pads on track.
The pads Jimmy ran were Ferrodo 3.12 which were not suitable for my driving preference. I have been testing Hawk DTC-70's but will only use on short tight tracks that run higher temps. For longer flowing tracks I will be running the tried and tested DTC-60's. Much better rotor wear and pedal feel that lines up with my driving style.
On order are Trackday Door Cards and Trackspec Hood Louvers.
Other than that I have had the opportunity to run at NCM and Road Atlanta before closing up shop for the season. After track time on two fundamentally different tracks I will adjust car height to free up more suspension travel hoping to make the car happier utilizing curbs.

Future Plans:
This car is turning more and more into a track dedicated and occasional weekend drive. Plans include running a 4.10 gear, full cage engine monitoring, weight reduction and video upgrades. As stated before I will upgrade to external remote struts when I rebuild the suspension.
Looking forward to updating this thread and fine tuning the car over the next several events in 2025. I am currently slated to run the car in February 2025 at Barber with Chin Track Days.
If you've read this far thank you and I hope to see you on track next year!
