Rod Bearings replacement 2013 M3 E93 - Atlanta

Hey guys - I've just purchased a 2013 M3 E93 with 80K miles and the rod bearings probably need to be replaced. Any idea on the cost and which is a good shop to use near Atlanta, Ga?

Records indicate that the throttle actuators, valve covers, and spark plug tubes were replaced in June 2024.

Also, anything else to look at while doing the rod bearings? Water pump, alternator etc?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My understanding is that the job should be closer to $2500. I think Technica is one of the most expensive places in the area. Look for a couple other quotes elsewhere.

I think engine mounts are a common thing to replace as preventative maintenance during rod bearing replacement.

I'd recommend GMP Performance. Great shop with a great reputation. Not sure what they'll be at as far as cost, but just know that it tends to be a little more expensive here on the east coast. On the west coast there's a Euro shop on every block so the pricing is much more competitive. So $3k wouldn't be unreasonable around here. I think that's what I paid up here in Greenville, SC when I got mine done a couple years ago.

I'll have a call into GMP as well. They seem great. I may go by each shop and talk with them to see which may be a better fit overall. As I plan to build a relationship with the shop.

I would also say $3k is reasonable. That is what Mporium charges for their service. The exact outline of what is included in the service is on their Ebay page. While not in your area, it is a great comparison to have.

Going with GMP Performance, Paul is my service advisor and he is doing a great job communicating with me even before the car arrives. Which I am hoping by Tuesday. Just the rod bearings is about $4,000. Which was about what I was expectings..however most likely will do the motor mounts and DCT service as well.

Sounds good, I will let you know how GMP does. We are at the early stages. The 3/4 things I would like done, rod bearings, engine mounts, DCT service and maybe the differential servcies as well.

My battery seems to be good, as the way I judge that is by using the stop/start feature and if the car cuts off as it should...battery is ok..not to scientific..but I think that may be a good rule of thumb.

Anyone done anything with True Automotive? I used to use Markert Motorworks in Lawrenceville, but I now see it is True Automotive. Unclear if it is the same guys?

Hi I live in Atlanta and used Munich Motorsports until recently. I have an 88 M6 and looking for an experienced shop in the older M Bimmers . Anyone have any recommendations?

It is the same guys, albeit one less owner now since he retired

I used Harrison Motorsports for my E9x service recently and had a tremendous experience, WBMWKID . They have extensive racing pedigree with the E46 and E9x and know what they are doing.

For what it's worth, I had the rod bearings recently replaced by Alpine Rennsport in Cleveland, GA. Excellent experience with these guys.
