Your favorite metal shift paddles??

I really like the feel of metal shift paddles as their tactile feeling is more positive when compared to the plastic/carbon OEM options.

For those of you that have actual experience with metal aftermarket shift paddles, which ones stood out the most or are your favorite and why?

Funny to stumble across this thread… I was just talking to a friend to ditch his CF paddles for metal ones, specifically Evolve. I have dumped well over $20k into my G80, and the Evolve aluminum paddles are hands down one of my favorite additions, and one of the cheapest.

Love these things. They’re longer, so easier to manipulate wherever your hands are at on the wheel, and they provide a much more mechanical feel, more sturdy, etc. some people probably think I’m crazy to ditch the pretty carbon ones, but aluminum Evolve paddles are an absolute game changer. I picked mine up from IND-Distribution

Do you have any experience with the "JQ Werks & Madtrace Clubsport Magnetic Paddle Shifters?" These have magnets inside the shift mechanism to improve the spring-back and also have a "clicky" sound. Not sure how I fell about a clicky sound, but that's that.

No experience in those, but I’ve considered trying them out to see how they feel.

When you drive your M3 with the Evolve paddles, do you want for a different, more snappy paddle feel or is it everything you could want in a shifting feel?

I know this sounds silly, but coming from the pcar space, I'm spoiled by metal paddles with a phenomenal paddle shift feeling. At the same time, the "magnetic" snappiness was only introduced in the 992 GT3RS which, due to the fact that we are still waiting for our first one to arrive, I have yet to feel in person.

I don’t think the Evolve paddles increase the “click” feel, as they’re still mounted on the OE mechanism. They just don’t have the flex like the carbon ones, so they transfer the feel better.

That’s why I’m somewhat intrigued by the magnetic ones. Assuming those provide a much better click feel and sound.

The MadTrace paddles have a distinct click, and amazing tactile feedback when clicking the paddles, this is attributed to the magnets in the paddles.

We offer the MadTrace paddles in the standard matte finish, but also in a gloss finish that we complete in house!

The MadTrace are very audible, so if you do not prefer the loud clicking, I would recommend the Evolve paddles.

Yes, they are compatible with all factory G8x steering wheel options.

These are full plug & play replacements.

I’ve ordered / installed this ones from Amazon. Look and feel is great but unfortunately they are way too close to the levers and my fingers keep hitting the levers…so f annoying. They just needed to make them a tiny bit closer to the steering wheel and they would have been perfect.

Curious to hear how they fit? Hopefully you got enough clearance and are not in my shoes like with those TDD

Yeh I just read your comment, that does sound really frustrating, I dare say I'll experience the same issues. If it does, I'll just switch back and sell them, I'm sure someone will want them for £60!

If they are too close, I'll stick with using the gear stick to change gears like a sequential 👍🏻

Definitely looking at the Evolve paddles now for my new m3!!

Anyone recognize the ones that came with my CPO M340? I'm not sure what brand they are, I initially thought they were stock or a factory upgrade b/c, aside from the slightly imperfect white paint, they look/feel/work great. (Pictures don't do them justice, the bronze color works well, sitting in the car)

I just wish there was a good/reasonably priced option to replace the OEM paddle system with up/down-shifting on either/both sides. I lost the use of my left/dominant arm 20 years ago, so I have to circle to the left side to downshift, which can get sketchy during hard driving on technical sections. I used a friend's sim-racing setup that includes a wheel the supports up/down-shifts from either paddle... it makes it MUCH easier for me and far more versatile for him (particularly for drifting)
