Hey guys,

Looking for your best recommendations to get my rear bumper resprayed with paint match and price quote if you have it. Looking for a quality place where they will nail the color match.

Where about in L.A. are you located?
I've heard great things about Strasse Sport in Baldwin Park. I bought some jack stands from a 335i owner and we chatted about his car. He had a new bumper that he got paint matched at Strasse Sport. He told me they simulated "aging" on the bumper as well so that the paint matches the rest of the car (not sure if this is standard on body shops). I couldn't tell the difference between the bumper and car.

They've done full color changes for E9X M3s that look absolutely stunning. I think a couple are owners are members of the forum.

Hey check out crown city motorsports in Pasadena CA. They do great work there. Fully restored my carbon fiber roof. I highly recommend them!
How much did the roof repair run ya?

Just not for any major mechanical work, like engine swaps. Speaking from first hand experience.
use a high end collision shop with up to date paint matching equipment. also make sure they do spray outs.

not everyone can paint match that well and some shops mentioned here I have seen and experienced otherwise.

Strasse Sport has done all my engine and paint work without any issues. Been going there for yrs and I've never had a problem.

Good to hear Ivan made improvements. I haven't been to him in years so take my feedback with a grain of salt since it's not current.

I went with him when he split from his partner years ago and haven't been back since for my reasons. Wish no ill will to him and glad to hear he's still around. If it's still Jose, yea he does good paint work.
Hey guys, bumping up this thread.

So is ABS and Strasse Sports still the two top go to shops in SoCal?

I'm VERY anal when it comes to any type of paintwork. I need to have front and rear bumpers resprayed Space Gray.

I absolutely hate doing any type of paintwork on my cars because I have an eye for spotting slight paint shade differences, how the metallic flakes settle in the paint, small imperfections like fish eyes, tiny debris etc. I also would like the finish texture (orange peel) to match the factory. It would bother me if the finish is too smooth from over sanding and buffing or vise versa.

Do you guys think I would be happy with their work?

ditto--I'd like to know as well. Need both front and rear bumper repainted, along with some other misc. touch up work (Silverstone II). If I can't get it done correctly, I'd rather not have it done at all.

Same. Need hood and both bumpers redone.
Had my bumpers repainted at ABS autobody before. Paint came out really nice on the bumper. They recently switched to Glasurit paint as well.

This is exactly why I recommend our community to do some more research and explore more options. Don't shop for the cheapest. The only options mentioned here are all known within the community but doesn't mean they are the best. It seems my suggestion was overlooked and everyone is stuck on the train.

I put a review on YELP about Kevin and his team, I recommend all my friends here who need any cosmetic work. I just had a race team corner balance and install a chassis mounted GT4 front lip they took the bumper off and asked me who redid my bumper because they were impressed with the work.

These guys go above and beyond and I drove from SD to LA just to have them work on it. Didn't think twice about the drive.
They resprayed the whole front clip and re cleared my roof on my past M3.

You're local to me; I had a shop here in NP respray an OEM side skirt, after mine had an encounter with my jack stand. He had me provide the gas cap lid and was able to match it pretty dead on. He did warn that it's almost impossible to get it 100% because you can't match weather conditions the day your car was sprayed from factory. But he said he said they can get pretty dang close.

They are called Conejo Valley Auto Center.
My ABS bumper peeled rather quickly.

It's worth asking what your paint color is. Some colors, like Mineral White, are much harder to match well than others.

The ABS bumper I had was space grey from my last car, and while the paint match was good, it did randomly start peeling and then got even worse during a hand wash.

Hey made an account to ask if you ever found a worthwhile body shop in LA, looking to get my bumpers painted, thanks
