Dilemma m3 sedan vs. coupe & colors. BUYING SOON

e90 m3 vs e92 m3
So I have only had the opportunity to drive the coupe. So wondering if any one has has driven both back to back, or the slight possible lived with both and could provide some insight.

As far as exterior colors are concerned, I keep battling between Alpine White, Space gray. Any opinions on which color works better between on sedan or coupe. ( I understand how much come down to a person preference, however some colors just suit a certain cars body differently for better or worse in my opinion.)
Past auto was auto was e46 330xi was Titanium silver, loved it So..I've naturally thought about SilverstoneII. I like it don't love it. For example, it appears dull in overcast lighting. Has just a tad too much blue hue.

Thank you in advanced for comments, and look forward to finally pulling the trigger , (w/o any buyers remorse!)

For me I would go with the space gray since too many white cars running around, the M4 coupe is always better in my opinion.

I was debating AW and SG too. I think AW looks great on the sedan while SG looks great on the coupe

I personally like the looks of the coupe way more. Also for me i wont own a M3 without a carbon fiber roof. Its simply way to cool. SO i think we are on two different pages.

I like grey and white. I would go white over grey though.

Looks = Coupe
Practicality = Sedan
Color = Personal Preference, but my favorites in regards to cars are always white or black

I personally will never own a 4 door car (that's the wife's cup of tea) as for as color I only buy black there's nothing sexier than a black car when it's clean (it's more work but worth it to me) and the carbon fiber roof is a must have as far as I'm concerned.

As far as the F8x I'm not impressed the E9x is much sexier in my opinon not to mention the fact it has a $25,000 NA V8 engine that is simply intoxicating!

If I could buy any e9x I would get a Limerock coupe but I really do like my fiancé's alpine white coupe.

I am having this dilemma as well. Coupe vs Sedan. I like the look of coupe way more than sedan but Sedan is more practical because I have a baby...I don't know what I should do

Consider silverstone ,white and gray are very common. Silverstone is an M specific color also! Get a coupe with the moon roof....cant beat the ability to open up the roof on a summers day and IMOP makes the car look more expensive and classy with the moon roof. The carbon fiber roof looks cool too...but in some colors - not so much.

ID hold out and be patient to wait for exactly what you want. Sunroof is fun but the looks and theory of the carbon roof was a must for me. I held out for carbon roof with dct and was open for any color . I'll never own a four door anything unless it's my daily and the coupe is my fun car.

I much prefer the looks of the sedan over the coupe. The couple looks way too much like the regular series model. The sedan looks quite a bit more unique with its front end that is completely different from the series model front. Also keep in mind the sedan is much more rare than the coupe, with about 1 sedan made for every 4 coupes.

i like the look of the coupe's ass way better, sedan's ass looks dated
ive never really found a need for moon roofs
as for color i'd suggest a metallic color, so if you can't get a mineral white then do space grey

Think CF roof looks best with white for the coupe. If have sedan, SG definitely looks more distinctive, but understated. White on the sedans look very plain compared to the coupes....just saw a white sedan today actually, doesn't really work for me not just compared to SG but other colors as well.

LMB(or IB but I really like LMB) is where it's at on a coupe w/ CF roof. It really pops. I don't like FR interior with it as it would be a superman car so I went extended black.

AW looks good but so many people have it so its just a fan boy color now.

As far as E90 vs E92 I've owned both and unless you have a real need to haul people in your back seat all the time I would get the E92. There is no performance difference but the coupe is way more sporty and much better to ride with the windows down. Being 6'7" I'm more comfortable in the coupe as well but no one can ride behind me.

I'm partial to coupes in blue, but white is my 2nd choice.

I've owned and driven both, in manual and DCT configurations.

The sedan provides a slightly better driving experience. Less rear overhang and a center B pillar yield a slightly more rigid structure and more precise responsiveness. It is a barely noticeable difference but it's there. The staff at M studio in Garching also likes the sedan overall.

The coupe looks sexier. The sedan looks more stock car. There seems to be coupes everywhere; I used to like them better, but now I like the look of the sedan more.

The doors of the couple are quite long and a bit heavy.

Go with what you want and feel comfortable in, for whatever reasons. There is no right or wrong answer.

Except for color. If I see many more white coupes I'm going to start spray painting them myself ... (and I used to own one)

To me, what makes the M3 special is it's capabilities AND practicality. The coupe has never appealed to me since, with regard to performance, it offers no advantage over the sedan and there are plenty of better performing coupes.

It's the idea that a sedan can hang with sports cars that makes the M3 rad. I actually owned an E92 335i for a few years and much prefer my e90 in every way. Both were space grey, but that was due to availability. I like the color, but also dig white. I'd prefer Mineral White though.

On a final note, I won't buy an M3 with a moon roof. Not enough room for a helmet for track days :-)

I think the sedan is better proportioned. It's also a tad cheaper and slightly more rare. Performance is identical to a coupe, so why not?

I have two boys (6 and 10) and shuttle them around once in a while in my M. My coupe is fine for this purpose once in a while but there was a weekend recently when the wife was away and by the end of the weekend I wanted another car to drag them around in given the constant shuffling past the front seats. That said, I like the ext rear of the coupe much more than the sedan. I can't imagine ever giving up the CF roof - it is such a unique characteristic of the E92 and is so special. Windows work fine for letting air and (more importantly) sound into the cabin! I've had many people ask my about my CF roof and I assure you they would not have even noticed or commented on a moon roof.

I know this is not going to be popular but I don't like white cars generally - I always considered it a rental car color. That said, of course I like AW on the E92 with the CF roof - very nice contrast. I just don't get why it seems to be the go to color for so many though. I actually wish there were a few more standard colors for the M as I won't do black since my last black car was impossible to keep looking clean without washing it constantly. So I chose space gray and love it . It looks good even when a little dirty, looks great in full light, and when in lower light, it shows awesome highlights around the curves of the M. Can't be happier with SG.

E92 is perfectly engineered for cruising with windows down. No buffeting and just the right amount of airflow. You don't need a sunroof on an E92.

Not sure about E90.
