M3 to 997TT

Who has done it? I'm in the process of getting a 997TT to replace the M3. I've loved the car for 4 years but the porsche power and handling won me over. Granted the M3 is gorgeous, newer and has more convenience the Porsche just seems to be a fantastic DD and if I have a truck and regular 3 series for hauling stuff.

I have a feeling there is no looking back...

There is no comparison between the two cars in my opinion. The TT is in a league above the M3, which is the avenue I'm going down in the future as well.

Do it! I switched to 991, you'll find many of the old m3post people on rennlist and 6speedonline.

This new m3/m4 and "their" forum, geez. Sure miss the old days

I would do it in a heart beat!, I am still wondering if I should make the jump from my Supercharged E92 M3 to a 996 Turbo and heavily modify it.

A lot of the people I've talked to about that switch said that if they could do it again, they would have gone 997 GT3. If you are for sure going Turbo route, the suspension is pretty soft so that'll need some attention depending on what you are looking for.

Agreed, finding the 997 for me was tough. My standards are so high and i'm super picky. But I finally found one that is a contender and after driving a turbo my M3 feels like a slug.

That is a tough call. The dealer by me has a mint 996 X50 with 1100 miles on it. $160k fully loaded collector car. Seal Gray with black interior. Very tempting but I really love the 997 features. 996 feels more like a go-cart so it's a bit of a shocker going from an M3 to the 996

I hear that all the time. But personally i've had NA engines forever, the turbo power is fantastic, I kinda hate waiting for engines to rev and the GT3 is a track car. Not a DD supercar. Depends what you need it for, which is why the GT3 is out for me. 911 is already limited enough in doing anything but a car to get from A to B. But it does sound glorious

The Modding capabilities of the 997TT are off the charts. It's a beast, and can only get beastlier.

Where did you find it? I was looking for a 2009 coupe with lower mileage, and really couldnt find any under 15k miles. Also, none seem to have PCCB.

I want a 2009 but very hard to find. One I'm looking at is around 20k miles. Which is fine in my book.

i agree. that new 911 GT3 with its N/A 3.8L 9k Redline is rather appealing. That would be worth paying 911 money.

I love my M3, but I miss my Porsche dearly. Goin' back some day. It wasn't a Turbo, but I made the mistake of test driving one once and will never forget that ride. All else pales. The M and the 911 are so different I just laugh at the comparos and press hype racing the two against each other and all that junk. GIves the scribes a great day at the track, I guess. 911 Turbo, even the 996, is in a league of it's own. And remember a Turbo S 997 and 991 is about as rarified as you can get- sub 3 second 0-60. Boom!
