First of all,

thank you kindly for sharing the new brochure with us.

Second, I noticed the Sedan is rated at only 20 lbs heavier than the coupe. Considering that the Coupe has a CF roof, and the sedan the steel moonroof; I am shocked that the coupe is not lighter. With less doors, and different dimension, etc. I would have hoped for a much greater difference. Can anybody explain this? I mean, the coupe will be heavier with the moonroof than the Sedan.

Oh well, a few lbs won't make a difference.

Confirms US weight at 3704 lbs. That's 130lbs greater than the 335i and almost as heavy as the E46 vert. E93 is going to be well over 4000lbs.

Confirms No stand alone Comfort Access option. Wow.

I also found this interesting:

"M Dynamic Mode (MDM) for accessing and designating M-specific driving systems."

So apparently what most of us here have been lumping in as a part of the functionality that is "MDrive" - is actually branded by BMW (or at least BMWUSA) as MDM and is specifically the ability to configure all M systems via IDrive. I think MDrive might just be the recall via button on the wheel, at least in strict parlance. I dunno. Its all a bit confusing.

And what he had been using the term MDM for is a specific setting in the traction/stability control system. Apparently, they call that setting MDM because it is only accessible via MDM. That's not really its name. I guess its name could be "track mode" or some such, like it was on the E46 ZCP.

Am I reading this brochure correctly - Space Grey is available for both the coupe and sedan??

Right, but either way, its about 300lbs heavier than the E46 coupe (which was specified at 3412 on BMWUSA.com when it was there) and 130lbs heavier than the 335i. As long as we compare BMW USA figures to BMW USA figures I think the conclusions are fairly solid since can assume that the weights were measured in the same way. Presumably C&D would measure a weight around 3300 lbs. for the 335i, and in fact IIRC they (or one of the big US auto mags) did just that.

You missed the footnote. The brochure actually says precisely the opposite.
