M3 vs c6 vette

On my way last night I ran into a c6 vette auto on the highway. We did multiple pulls and I pulled on him about a car each and every time all the way up to about 130. My car is a 2011 e92 m3 with test pipe, tune, full catless.

I'm actually surprised because I had trouble before keeping up with a c6 with my previous e90 m3 on the lightening track in NJMP. Any guys have any experience running c6's?

If it was an LS2 C6, the result is not surprising. If it was an LS3 C6, it may still not be surprising given your mods. You would have to be running the same or more HP... don't forget the C6 LS3 only had 430HP even though the car was lighter than the E92. Also, hard to equate drivers. But, in the end, it doesn't surprise me really given the mods to your M3.

My bet is that the reason you had a hard time keeping up on the track was because of the C6's handling and brakes mainly. They are pretty capable track cars.

Actually not a guido, metrosexual phaggot ... so probably your insecurity... just stating my opinion around GM quality.. I dont really care or deny that its faster.... just saying i dont personally care for it.

That was a bit harsh. To each is own though. I myself rather german engineering unless it's a c7 z06 which I am sure will be my M3 replacement.

Makes perfect sense. It sat down in the corners really well. Given it was my first track day I was impressed with how the c6 performed but more impressed with the e90. It took me a good while to find the limits of it and I'm sure there's more grip to be had.

Lol. That plastic GM crap is one of the best track cars ever made. That is something BMW can't even begin to dream of making.

It is a great track car. I was just referring to the fit /finish of the car which personally would stop me from getting one. Just my opinion.

Also I know the vette is faster on the track. But having driven both in this application I actually prefer the m3. So i personally won't say Bmw doesn't compete. I guess it depends what experience you are looking for in the car. To me I am such a fan of the m3 because while not the best in every dimension, I have yet to see another car blend such all around strong attributes together. Track car, dd, technology, design, etc.

So are you one of those guys who buy for the badge?

Your observations of fit/finish may be true compared to the C6 but the C7 is a different animal. Fit/finish of the car inside is absolutely up to par with my 2 M3s.

To say you have driven both cars at the track and prefer the M3 suggests you don't have a lot of track experience. The C6 is a better track car for an experienced driver IMO... the C7 is that much better again. The M3 is a fantastic car at the track for a car that is a multi purpose car but it understeers a lot more, doesn't grip as well and feels notably heavier. It can be modded to C6/C7 levels of performance but out of the box it isn't at the same level.

The M3 is still, IMO, one of the best all around cars but for aggressive driving or track use, the C7 is better in actual performance and also feel. It is a very capable car around town too but the M3 is a better daily driver no doubt. I love the M3 and ideally would like both cars... the M3 for Monday to Friday duty and the C7 for the weekend and track. That would be fantastic. If things go as planned, I'll be in an M4 in a year from now with the C7 being a more dedicated track car. That would be amazing IMO

I haven't driven a c7. The c7 agreed has been drastically improved interior.

And no I didn't buy the car for the badge. I was joint pointing out for me personally performance is the only factor for me. If it was I agree vette is a better track car. I thought I said that already though.

The C6 interiors might as well have been out of a Lumina. CHEAP.

But damn can those things run. You have to give credit where it's due and those things get the nod from me when it's time to drive.

One of the guy i work with (part time job) drives a C6 GranSport, and I always say M3 is a Corvette killer. After doing more research on E9x M3, he starts to believe it.
