tranmission failure message

I received a transmission failure message today which scared me for while. The car remained in P and I couldn't move it to D or R at all. I shut the car down, popped the hood and couldn't find anything suspicious, no leaks that i can see. closed the hood and restarted the car and the transmission failure message went away.

must be a one off software glitch. i hope...

any advice?

car is under CPO warranty under 06 2014.

Usually it will store a fault. But in some cases it may clear after X number if cycles depending on what the original cause for the fault was.

If it only happened once, I wouldn't take it in to be honest. DCT has it's occasional quirks and is not perfect. Check to make sure there is no fluid leaking underneath and if it happens again, then I would seek dealer assistance.

It's free to have the car looked at until you're out of warranty. I don't see why it's a big deal to wait until the message comes back. Just head on over to your nearest dealership (assuming your nearest dealership is, in fact, near).

I'd take it to the dealer. I'd hate to get stuck somewhere or have damage occur if it was a real issue.

DCT woes. I almost got stuck once myself. Then I hit the clutch and was able to go.

Id rake it in. I've had several leaks that aren't visible without pulling off tranny under carriage cover. If you are down on fluid or right at cusp than Id not risk driving it low on tranny fluid. On 2008 its almost certain a leak will happen at some point

Take her in. You only have 2 months left on your CPO. So even if it doesn't happen before the CPO runs out, you at least have documentation that you had this issue before the warranty runs outs. Helps the dealer make some "good faith" decisions.

booked an appointment with the dealer in may. lets see what they say and if they can retrieve the failure message

Leaks are really commonn. Mechatronics leak and several others. Had 3 leaks on mine. I'm now having dct inspected every 10k for leaks by removing the dct under tray otherwise you can't see leaks until significant fluid is lost, then potential trans damage already done. I wouldn't wait until may. Low fluid using tranny could cause serious damage

i'm out of the country until may and won't be driving it until then. i'll ask the dealer to check for leaks by removing the under tray as a visual check under the car shows no leaks
