What are you referring to? You're going to track me down based on salary and a metro city with 6 million ppl? Ok.

You're acting like I posted my address and SSN.

Billionaires can barely afford bus passes. Millionaires can barely afford to walk. Everyone else ahould just kill themselves because they're screwed. I don't even know why cars exist at all, no one can afford them.

That is what I've learned from previous threads like this one.

Mate, calm down. I'm referring to the fact that you are on this forum and just spilling the beans on how much you make, what your car payment is, etc. I was brought up that as long there was food on the table and clothes on my back, how much my parents made was none of my damn business. That goes for anything else financial also. Europeans are quite private about all those things. I find it amazing how I can, after only knowing an American for a little bit, find out very quickly how much he paid for his house, how much he makes, if his car is paid off, etc.

Nuts.

I realize it's still early in California, but I was being sarcastic.

You are missing my point, but since you brought up Facebook, let me ask you this: are you posting your salary and how much your car payment is per month? Probably not. That is *slightly* different than posting pictures of "popping bottles in da club" or "me 'n ma boo" or whatever shit people use Facebook for.

Nobody can say with any certainty whether you can afford it or not. It's completely subjective and there are too many considerations that can sway that in either direction. I will say at your age, if you were to reduce your monthly payment on a cheaper car, and put the net savings into an IRA, you would be in a much better situation later than if you were to wait. Even if you already started a retirement account, the more you put in now, the more you'll have later. It may sound crazy to start thinking about retirement as you are just getting out of college but it's the only way to make it affordable.

When I was making $70k, an M3 wasn't even a consideration. Here in NYC, $70k means you're sharing the rent on a one bedroom apartment with at least one other person in order to make ends meet.

You can go on Glassdoor and see what folks make at any given company, or a close average.

Do you know my face? If
You saw me walking down the street, would be be able to say -- " Hey, that's him. That's the guy on the BMW board that makes X amount a year and pays X for his car."

Who cares. Not me. Maybe that's just me. So what. In two years, my salary will most likely be different and so will my vehicle and I can go back to being anonymous...?

C'mon man. This is 2013. Europe has nude beaches. Not very private in my eyes....*sarcasm*

I completely agree with you. I have looked into Roth IRA's and other means of saving for retirement. Not far fetched at all; very smart indeed.

I'm definitely starting to think more along these lines opposed to getting the next M Sport model, etc.

I was being sarcastic too. Im not in California ATM. Im in Louisiana. Posting a car payment isnt any different than posting where are you, where you live, checking in here, going there.

HAHA...really! You must have a net worth of at least $100M before you can comfortably afford a new BMW 328i base model.

Oh and if you are thinking of getting a new M3/M4...at least have a net worth of $1B... That is after you already have $1T in your 401k obviously.

Narcissism is alive and well I see. Why does everyone need to know where you are, what your house looks like, and where you're eating lunch? And now it's how much we make and what our payments are? What's next? Sharing screenshots of our bank account statements, your credit score or a #selfie with your gynecologist?

Not sure if OP is very high or I just responded to an old thread?

Either way OP, one thing that every one on this forum has to remember that tomorrow is not promised. We are all betting on the fact that we'll still be here XX amount of years to enjoy our shrewd investments, but some people's number come up sooner than expected. I say enjoy life in moderation.

Funny you say that. I took a selfie with a cop who pulled me over to show my boss why I was late last year. Then of course posted it on FB.

Its not really a need, more of a want. I dont need to check in at LAX when I go some where but I like to do it so I do. I dont personally text/call every single person on my FB or IG but I like to keep them in the loop and I also like to see what all my friends from high school and college are doing with their lives now and what they have become, but I dont want to pick up the phone call them for that. Thats what FB does for me.

OP whatever you do don't take any advice from Sara. Now if you didnt have a 3 yr. old son I'd say you were doiing quite well, but giving your circumstances you better get an old car and spend that $630 towards your sons future college education. Or use that money on a stay at home nanny so he's not in a damn daycare. Priorities folks

I would say if your goal is to get the house in the suburbs, you should focus on saving for that though. Could get a cheaper sporty car for now and the bmw once you get the house over with.
+1, just like women don't need expensive purses, I don't need expensive cars. But what's the point of life if it lacks indulgence?
