ACM | ESS Supercharged Space Grey E92 M3

We recently had a customer come up from Virginia to install an ESS VT2-650 supercharger and rod bearings. We also installed a Performance Steering wheel, paddles and an Awron boost gauge. We beefed up the rear tires to 295's with the white lettering for a simple, clean, but most importantly - an all business look.

Stock bearings showing consistent wear with just under 25,000 miles on them.

The good: all the new goodies
The bad: the old bearings. Damn *smh*.

Given the issues w/your first M3, did you switch to 0w-40 or did you stay w/10w-60?

The first M3 i got used from a member here, so i can't speak to its first 18k-sh miles. For this M3, I ensured proper warm ups as much as possible, oil changes at 7500 intervals then dropped down to 5000 before last change. Not sure what I could have done extra here. I think the M3 bearings are just something to monitor and that will need servicing/upgrading.

I did not go with 0w40. I just don't see enough evidence out there justifying its "safety" per say. I don't really see much data on it past the 10k mark. I have kept an eye on the threads, but I will not be making the switch. Hopefully 0w40 users will keep reporting their long term results back (i.e. no failed motors lol) or even pulling out their bearings for analysis.

The awron gauge is an AWESOME tool, as it shows you the exact temp of the oil. In this weather, The car starts up with the oil a little under 60 degrees. 2-3 minutes of idling doesn't do much to the temp, and there were times pre-supercharging that i would just drive off. Now I let it start up for about 10 minutes until the oil gets near/passes 120 and drive moderately (under 3k rpms) from there until its fully warmed up. I did swap out the bearings with WPC bearings (opted out of a coated bearing) so hopefully that has a positive effect as well. I hope to keep up with oil analysis, and maybe pull them out down the line to check out how the WPC bearings wear over time.
