Was it mentioned if these coilovers will work with EDC?

What we have seen with the current kits for cars with EDC is that it eliminates it. But we have not received the kits to say for certain.

Cool but also kind of funny and ironic as the first cars likely won't hit dealers or customers until February at the earliest.

Lucky for KW that the M3 already exists in customers hands in other parts of the world.

a manufacturer would be smart to make a coilover kit to work with the cars EDC... I'd purchase it in a heartbeat when I get my car!

This could only be reprogramming of the EDC system...

How so? I know there are a few suspension companies out there already who make kits that allow you to adjust the suspension from inside the car with the touch of a button. Tein is one, with there EDFC. All they would have to do is use their coilover kit and configure it to work with the EDC system.

Guys, I think many of you are not understanding the EDC system. EDC is (E)lectronic (D)amping (C)ontrol which simply means that the shocks are adjustable and are adjusted in real time using input from various accelerometers in the vehicle. The shocks have valves which are internal/integral and electronically controlled. Remove these very specific shocks and EDC is completely gone. Simple. That being said you will be able to change/upgrade the springs with no large effect on the EDC function.

I sent a PM to Sam last week for an update. He said he would have them next month but he said that in December.... Who knows? I will go with bilstien or KW, whichever comes to market by May when my car arrives.

You guys who ordered EDC should forget about coliovers. I'm sure EDC is nice but to lower the car new springs is your only option (a poor one at that).

You're preaching to the choir... re-read the thread again; we are hoping that a manufacturer designs coilovers that have piezoelectric shocks, able to communicate with the accelerometers in the vehicle. (it's a pipedream)

It adjusts dampening, not ride height, like the "ABC" system which I enjoyed in my old '03 MB CL500.

Uhhh....no. When folks are asking if COs will work with EDC they are confused. Also when a supplier is not sure about that as well he is fairly clueless.

clueless on the current status of R&D for feasibility of A/M c-o's w EDC.... sure.

...not on the definition of EDC, which you provided.

One member asked "...if these coilovers will work with edc..." I wouldn't call him "confused" or "clueless".

edit: added the latest from Bilstein which looks promising...

The BILSTEIN B16 ridecontrol® gives the ambitious motorist the opportunity to adapt the vehicle setting to the motoring conditions prevailing during the ride. Well I guess I will politely beg to differ. Anyone who thinks coilovers, especially the first ones on the market will be EDC (a proprietary BMW/their partner proprietary system) conpatible is a bit clueless. As well any shop/dealer/sales person who does not know is definitely a lot clueless. Sorry, JMHO.
