Cool 2010 DCT, 19k miles, full history, failed to start today!

Facts
  • E92 M3 DCT 2010
  • Full BMW history
  • currently 19,000 miles on the clock
  • Just had oil/diff oil changed about 4000 miles ago
  • Was driving more than an hour before incident
  • outside 8C degrees
  • A bit low on fuel
  • Always use Esso Supreme or Nitro+
  • Battery always charged
Stopped at sainbury for a few minutes,
came out to start the car as usual and it failed to start.

Video/sound can describe better than words on what happened (see below).

Engine light, Tyre pressure and DSC came on.
Failed to start 2 times, third time I gave it some gas and it started.

Car is starting ok now, but engine light remains on dash,
but no error messages on iDrive.

Hopefully getting some codes tomorrow.

Error messages on iDrive

Maybe a faulty idle control valve?

That was one of the logged things in the ECU.
But its running fine now.

Maybe a glitch, battery or a idle actuator on its way out? :/

The actuators have always been a problem with the M3's. My guess would be that its on it's way out.

What are the funny beeps about?

Was the car parked flat? If not it could be fuel starvation, given that you were low on fuel?

Its the alarm, remote start controller beeping.
Rarely use the BMW key anymore these to start the car days

It was flat in Sainsbury carpark.
Maybe cause it was relatively low on fuel and I was driving like a dick
before I stopped, it mixed a load of crap at the bottom of the tank?

So when I came out to start again, it sucked up crap? :/

That is possible dude.

I've heard of fuel starvation problems with low fuel (even 1/4 tank) when cornering hard, or parked at a incline.

Think eventually the fuel will leave deposits?
Or just mixed with air/water perhaps over time?

I only fill up with Esso Supreme 98 and Shell V-Power Nitro+.

Hopefully it was just the low fuel perhaps.
