Olympics - Congratulations to America

I have to say, for not really having too much of a winter, you guys did very very well.

Your womens hockey team even scared me into thinking we were going to lose to you. Fortunately that was not the case in the end, but it was an excellent effort.

Coming in 4th overall is an excellent effort though - congratulations!

I know - I'm an asshole.

Ha! OP, love the fine print at the bottom!! Have to say based on this one post, it is true... Fourth (based on gold medal count, second in total medals) is not too bad, certainly much better than the 14th place (based on gold medals) Canada managed during the Summer Olympics in 2012.

How do they determine the medal rankings? Is it a point system?

No, purely based on the number of medals. The OP has chosen to use gold medal count for his rankings where Canada did indeed finish with the second most gold medals. In overall medal count, US was second and Canada was fourth. Guess the silvers and bronzes don't count in his book...

And yes, you guys can keep Bieber!

The IOC uses gold first so I guess thats good enough for me. That would put Canada at #3 behind Russia and Norway.

Outside of hockey, the rest is just noise anyhow..

You're correct, third! I just glanced at the medals and missed Norway...

Only hockey? So team ice dancing doesn't count??

I always wonder where America's hat is come the Summer Olympics.

Oh, there they are...way down at the bottom.

Sux though...cause hockey is where it's at. At least Crosby, Kunitz, Maata, and Jokinen scored in their final games.

Having a reasonable discussion and someone has to be an idiot. Nice work.

Methinks I accidentally trod on one of his nerves....

I count the standings just like the IOC counts them. I'm just proud of how Canada did this year!

Edit: In other news, America denies any knowledge of any hockey happening or having happened in Soichi.

Of course! Clearly we didn't really play hockey in Sochi... We looked terrible against you guys and the bronze medal match against Finland was down right embarrassing!

Where's the reasonable discussion? He stated (and I quote) "I know - I'm an asshole." I just decided to be one too. Oh, I get it...your a Canadian.

If you actually read my post...I state that I feel hockey is the sport of sports to win.

I love the Winter Olympics, even more than the Summer Olympics and even I'll
admit these are niche sports. Hockey is the biggest of these sports in the US and even that is on the fringe. I live in "the state of hockey" and it's nowhere even close to NFL or MLB in popularity here. Probably still behind the NBA too.
