I don't really like any of them, specially the Caterham but I think the Sauber and the Merc are the most appealing. The Ferrari looks so odd from perspective!

It will be interesting to see if the times really improve tomorrow. The times are 9 seconds off what they ran last year.

The v6's aren't as leaf blower as I thought they would be. They sound like last years Indycar Honda v6.

From the side angle, the 2014s look better than the 2013s I think. The phallus shaped noses are ridiculous though.

Have the main red bull and toro rosso teams always have different shapes?

gone were the days of high pitching NA engines, but I'm starting to like (or used to) the spooling, and energy recovery sound....its very interesting sound indeed....

It's going to take a few races to really see how all these changes mix up the results versus last year.

The v6s sound better than I thought they would, the spooling sound is nice but I'm glad I got to experience the v8s in person, they were unbelievable

Yes, they are completely separate teams. RBR is based in England while STR is based in Italy.

I wish I had the same opinion as some of you about the sound. Maybe it will grow on me.

I've been watching F1 religiously since late 1999.

V10>V8>V6, at least in terms of sound. God protect us what gets introduced next; a trend is becoming apparent.

The sound of BMWs P83 shrieking at over 19,000rpm still gives me the chills.

Yeah, don't want to seem like an old fuddy duddy... but F1 sounds have always been utterly spectacular. Now they're ok, tolerable, interesting'ish. Eh. I'd pay for some of those old Speed online practice sessions that were sans commentary.

McLaren suspension blocks.

McLaren's innovative rear suspension design has been the big technical talking point of the second day of 2014 Formula 1 testing at Jerez, relates technical expert Gary Anderson.

The McLaren team has attached a large aerodynamically-profiled "blocker" to each of the rearmost suspension links of its new MP4-29. This concept is designed both to give more downforce at low speed and reduce drag at high speed.

These blockers must be part of the suspension itself, but there is a very fine line between an independent shroud, which would be illegal, and something that is all one part and I'm sure that McLaren has ensured it complies with the rules. This appears to meet all requirements of the regulations in terms of location and structure.

These aerodynamically profiled parts act as devices to block the airflow coming out of the "Coke bottle" area when it gets to the back of the diffuser. It creates an area of low pressure behind these blockers and this then increases the velocity of the airflow travelling underneath the car, generating more downforce from the underfloor. The rear beam wing previously did this job, but the 2014 regulations have banned that so teams are looking for new ways to make up for it.

The interesting thing about this package is that when the car is at higher ride height, these sections will almost completely close the gap at the top of the diffuser, helping it to work at low speed. At higher speed, because of suspension deflection, a gap will open up between the bottom of the lower blocker and the diffuser, which will reduce drag.

So this makes it a double whammy, giving you more downforce under braking and in slower corners and less drag at high speed. This could be McLaren's secret weapon because, if it does work, it is not something that can be copied in five minutes as it is dependent on a number of design parameters at the rear of the car.

I actually don't think the sound is that bad, it definitely isn't synonymous with F1 (yet), but I do like the throatiness and the whirr.

RB10 is one of the best looking for sure, it looks like though they have a few reliability / technical issues to work through though.

Marussia:

Caterham:

and the underside of it:

Look what this person did: the Ferrari looks better "blacker"

Personally I prefer the look of Mercedes W05....

But RB10 is not bad since they try to camouflage the "nose" in black....
