I would replace both pre cat oxygen sensors. You could get away with replacing the offending one, but we've seen them go out on cars with less than 30K that are bone stock.

Do you have the part number by any chance or know who makes our o2 sensor?

Thanks Mike!

Just got the same exact error code, except I easily discovered mine thanks to BPM's great interface:

27C6 Lambda probe AD-Diagnostics trim control Bank 1

Anyone else have advice for us on the most efficient way to go about resolving this? So far from my research sounds like it's almost always just easiest to go about replacing all O2 sensors pre- and post- cat? How much would that cost?

I've also got a third-party warranty on my M3, so I'm wondering if there's a way to work with my nearby BMW dealership (JMK BMW) and have them formally present the error code to the warranty company and have them cover the replacement?

'ing ...myself above from 2 years ago in order to help others in the future poring through these forums. I resolved my error code without spending a dime and haven't seen it pop up nor have I experienced any mechanical issues since 01-11-2015!

The resolution is: clear error codes using the BPM software. lol.

Apparently, sometimes just clearing the error codes and carefully waiting to see if they pop up again is a surefire way to assess whether the problem is a "real" issue or if it was a one-time blip. In my case, luckily, it literally never came up again for over 2 years.

Hope this helps someone in the future!

Thanks for updating. Too few people come back and respond to threads that they've started.

Replying for future need for others to reference. This is the first result that pops up when you search "e92 m3 27c6" on google.

For reference, I just experienced this DME fault, and am looking into the repair. I have cleared the code, and the code has returned. Both times the code has set, it has been raining (don't think this is a cause or a problem, but who knows and I figured I would save this for reference).

I am using an OTC Evolve Diagnostic tool running the Bosch 3.0 Software for diagnostic.

The only codes retrieved at this time were:
277C Oxygen Sensor trim control bank 1
27C6 Oxygen Sensor, adaptation, trim control bank 1
2726 Oxygen Sensor, plausibility, before cat., bank 1
Again, for reference and repair info, bank 1 is passenger side (cylinders 1-4).

I will reply to thread with official repair and any testing info I can find.

My vehicle is a 2013 e92 M3 with competition package. DCT trans. 37xxx miles.
