I'm doing one of these "drive a Ferrari" things tomorrow. Should I buy the insurace?

My wife and son got me a "driving experience" thing where you get to drive a ferrari or Lambo around a track. They offer the track insurance and it's pretty pricey, 50-150. Should I buy it?

You'd have to drive like a complete tool or have no skill to wreck one.

Poor saps who wreck exotics either have more ego than brains or no experience.

I've done both days at Exotics Racing and over 20+ track days in my GT3. No issues other than a couple of spins on tracks that had a ton of run off.

If you have zero or not a lot of track time and 0 tolerance for risk, take the insurance. If you've done a lot of time on track and know how to sneak up on the limit, it's a waste.

i did one of these things. it was like 200 bucks for 250k coverage. To me 200 bucks for that amount of coverage is well worth it. seeing how a 458 cost 300k!

really what is 150 bucks at the end of the day.

50-150 for a track experience? I think it would be worth it for a "just in-case" kinda thing. My philosophy in life is there there are so many things in this world that you can't control, however, everything that you can control, do it.

Yeaah, think I'll make the purchase, heh.

Off topic in my own thread though - how did this above video actually happen? It seems he was too heavy, too soon on the throttle there but it seems like the stability control would've kicked in on that one. Why do folks think that one happened? Maybe he had it turned off?

Yeah I think it's off. If you look at the steering wheel when he makes sharp left turns, the manetino switch seems to be either on race mode or cst off mode.

Just got back. I did end up buying the 50 insurance just in case and for piece of mind.

The autocross "track" setup was much bigger than I thought it would be. First time doing this for me and is the fastest car I've ever driven. Holy crap! A switch has been flipped... must... race... more. That was insanely FUN! I could totally see doing Autocross in the M. I actually asked the guys there if I could bring my M around the course for a fee. They turned me down after some collaboration with the guys who own the thing . But he did refer me to one of the instructors who runs the local autocross group. I'll be checking that out.

But oh man, the M felt slow as balls on the drive home lol

ESS will cure any feelings of slowness.

Someday perhaps. When it's paid off in 4 years I evaluate major mods Vs. something new.

Not how soon but how much throttle input.

Then made worst by backing off the throttle and start chasing the steering wheel.

Traction Control is not to blame. This is purely a driver induced incident.

This happened to me once on a hill climb in 4th gear corner with R comps and 5 deg ambient temp.

Lucky for me I ended up in the bush about 1 metre away from a tree and lost a side skirt.
