Dr colour chip paint query

Hi guys

The dr colour chip paint kit came for my 2008 E92 in Silverstone II.

It's just to touch over a stone chip on the front bumper which is noticeable but nothing substantial size wise.

I know they say it's an exact colour match with the OEM paint but once it's dried, will their still be a slight, even noticeable, difference in the colour contrast?

Thanks.

Try and let us know. I'm interested in finding out, as well.

I've used this on my s2000 and my dad has used it on his Porsche...I was impressed with both outcomes. FWIW though, both cars were black...

For paint with metalic flakes, I think it is very hard to get it perfect with touch up paint. This is due to the fact the metallic flakes in the paint don't lay the same way they do when they were sprayed. Even when respraying an area with metallic paint, they generally have to blend it in with the existing paint to get it to match since slight difference in the way it is spray will make the flakes lay down more or less and this will make the flakes reflect the light differently.

Any reason why you would rather avoid the BMW Touch Up paint? It's produced by the people who originally painted your car! Unless it's the aerosol can you are after....

Not in my case. Sparkling Graphite is extremely metallic with tons of flakes. I was very impressed with the results.

Because BMW's suck IMO. I've had experience with both.

I'd go with the OEM paint and use some of Larry's tips here:

I just did the Dr. Colorchip road rash repair on my JB M and it came out surprisingly well. Dozens of small white chips pretty much gone. The deeper ones of course you can still see pretty easily but the chips are way less noticible. I also had a couple of scratches done with OEM touch up paint and its raised above the surface ever so slightly, which I don't like. It may fill a little better but dr. Colorchip is hard to beat.

Dr Colorchip works well for light scratches or road rash. Anything you can catch with your nail, you need OEM paint and Langka.

Results are 8/10 for me. With Interlagos Blue, it seems to take 3-4 tries to make it work. I've used it on all of my past BMWs (Space Gray and Swartz II) with good results needing only 1 coat.

Works great for very light scratches, basically makes them disappear.
