My buddy just bought a Chevy SS (SWEET!) and the Dealer Manager was telling us there very lenient on allowing after market parts, He even said they would warranty dealer installed Superchargers! and they where not even a rip off in price.

yeah it's very easy to say that up front to someone while they're SELLING THEM A CAR... diff story when the car blows up and you're trying to warranty it.

Damn, can't people see what snake oil salesman dealers actually are??

That's a discussion for a different thread. But yeah.. Car salesman aren't the most honest in the business, that's for sure. I had a dealer sell me a wrecked CPO car once and they told me to get lost until my attorney showed up with a news station

Forgot to mention: New plugs - will be for the old motor. Crate motors from BMW come with new plugs installed but no coils:

Amazon.com for the win!

Dude, tell that guy he needs to get that ashtray cover in carbon fiber! Love the bag, just ordered one.

Also, you didn't really pick baby poop as a trim color on your M5, did you?

Not my M5. It's a 13 550 TT no msport. But switching it today to a 14 550 msport.

The interior actually is nice. Each to his own.

Mike, how would you say the CF console looks with the carbon leather on the dash (on your customers' MC blue M3). Was always wondering whether the different CF/Carbon Leather textures would clash.

I really like that trim... It's actually the same interior my has car pretty much, less the blue stitching. I think the BMW perf eBrake handle and boot will really complete mine - although I am planning on getting the BMW performance seats at some point in the future. The pic is a bit old below - looks better with the F10 M5 shiftknob:

I'd be up for the BMW Performance trim also. I wasn't a fan of the carbon leather at first - thought it was too dull, but it grew on me. I think I'm going to do the lighted door sills also. Might as well go full house but at the same time keep it clean and classy.

Forgot to mention - Also purchased a Power/EDC/DSC Off button the for build. It wouldn't be a proper M car without a Power button

The Race build likely will not have EDC, but I will figure out how to make that button do something else:

Will be posting some wiring harness pics later today.

Sorry for a thread jack, but how did the Dinan xpipe and Akra muffler combination sound compared to a straight Evo setup? I've been contemplating this for some time now....

Nice thread and great plan for a build btw!

Actually sounded surprisingly good. I've run the full Akra for a few years now, so I'm thinking about potentially switching it up for a catless midpipe setup, or potentially the GT4 (although it's a bit pricey for my taste).

Thanks Bryan!

Is there literally anything that you haven't updated to 2013 spec on your car? Geez, that's a very thorough job! You've motivated me to change my spark plugs haha.

Personally, I think you have to go full CF or not at all. I personally think it'd be weird to have one trim real CF and the rest CF leather.

That MCB with the HRE is drop dead gorgeous though.

Yeah, that's my worry in mixing/matching, which may end up looking too contrived. Good to get a reality check sometimes!

I'm sure someone would pick up the CF leather from you as they are pretty desirable. Then you can pick up full CF for an arm and a leg.

Just trying to be a good influence haha

I have these same Dinan pedals and love them. Break up the all black interior nicely and you notice every single time you open the door to hop in.

12/10/2013: Small Update

After some Engine Tuning, Transmission Software, Coding, and rear Section Akra Install with CF Tips to this beautiful frozen grey M3, I figured it would be a good time to clean three years of dirt off my Akra and see the true colors of Titanium underneath!

Here is the Frozen Beast:

Akra after cleaning (pre polishing):

It's incredible the amount of dirt that came off and how much different it looks now. Sorry - didn't take any before shots. It was nice to freshen her up. I am contemplating going with the Akra GT4 setup.

Got a call today, and the engine is still stuck in customs. The wait is starting to really kill me!! I feel like I'm not going to have it back by the holidays ;(

Once it arrives it should take roughly three days to button her up and hit the street again.

Also decided to do the rear subframe bushings as well as the diff bushings to eliminate any wheel hop issues and strengthen those components in the rear. Will post another update as soon as the goodies arrive or the build finally begins!

Thanks everyone for your support!

Ever think about doing a vanos delete, like vac has for the s54? I bet the idle would sound awesome on the s65!

Mike,
Question to an older post, but do you know if the newer heavier duty starter is compatible with the S85? I'm replacing mine due to failure and have one in hand, but just curious.

That's more suited for a race build with performance camshafts. Vanos is very useful in this motor!

Very good question. I will check into this for you. All of the older starters are being replaced with the newer reinforced one - if the older 08 s65 starter is compatible, this new one should do the trick on the s85 also. I will ask a couple friends that are master techs at BMW.
