Concerning vehicle history report(moved)

Hello all. I'm brand spanking new to the forum and am planning on joining the M family. I'm looking at a 2008 M3 E92 DCT and just pulled the service history. Seems a bit concerning(especially the 2 DCT complaints on file). I'm asking the SA to see what was done to remedy those complaints:

Current mileage: 36k
2008 E92DCT

History
03/2008 Production date

6/16/2008 @2666 miles Manual transmission in 1st gear failing to synchronize

10/27/2008 @8709 miles M3 Reprogram for DCT(I believe this is from the service bulletin)

08/12/2009 15613 miles 1st oil change, gearshift paddle, steering wheel permanent malfunction(uh, wha?)

8/13/2009 15687 miles Shift quality in "D", downshift, double clutch transmission DKG too rough(uh, oh)

7/15/2011 26201 miles 2nd oil change, Mass air flow sensor HFM for secondary air system permanent malfunction, Final drive unit, grating noise while cornering

9/8/2011 26908 miles rear wheel bearing unpleasant noise

3/30/2012 30258 miles intake filter housing leaking

4/25/2012 31069 POW STR PUMP NOISY

Is this par for course for an M3? Help please. Thanks.

There were a lot of complaints with DCT early on, mostly all software related. At some point in late '09 or '10 IIRC software updates cured most issues. I wouldn't be concerned with that history, just sounds like a picky owner.

The noises an M3 makes can be unsettling to someone who is expecting a commuter. DCT's are very tough and reliable. DCT is one component we all don't really worry about. Software updates have smoothed shifting. Do oil analysis and search here for 'rod bearings'.

The second option is a 2011 with 52k miles. Pretty much the same spec wise, except it's 6.5k more and has competition package. 1 owner though and zero complaints per service records. Mileage is a tad high for a 2 year old car though....

Everyone knows you need ZCP or you're just driving a 'civic' anyway...

Plus, that other car's DCT problems would be a huge red flag for me. Did the car even have the 1200 service done on time? I notice your history doesn't show that.

Two oil changes it's whole life!!?!? Even full synthetics call for a change once a year regardless of mileage. Besides it's cheap insurance. I also don't like first year cars or cars that sit. That 2011 seems like a much better option to me.

Frankly I don't know if the vehicle had more oil changes outside of BMW dealerships. BMW has full maintenance so no idea why previous two owners would have not taken advantage of it(?)

Re: 1200 miles service. I see no note about that. The earliest item on the service history is:

6/30/08 2666miles "GW RENTAL-"ONLY""

No idea what that means. Might have been a rental/demo car for the dealership? That's not a good start either.... ;x

No one, other than the previous owner would have known. I'm probably going to bail on this one and go for the 2011. I intend to keep the M3 for as long as possible so starting with a 2011 vs an older 5 year old car makes sense.
