How do I know if I should use the single file or 3 file version for my 2009. I don't know if my CIC has been firmware updated.

Everything is working great. I am pleased to have my maps updated from 2011 to 2014.

If anyone in SoCal near the 909 area wants to update their 2010+ I will loan you my OEM USB stick at my place for $15.00. This will save you the hassle of downloading this for a one time use. Update process takes between 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete. You will still need to purchase the FSC code here.

You need the FSC code in order to install the updated software via the USB port in your glovebox.

The FSC code is gernerated by providing the last 6 or 7 digits on your vehicles VIN.

With out the code that matches your VIN you will not be able to install the updated software package.

Also to clarify, FSC codes are only needed for 2009 and up model vehicles. 2008 and below do not require a FSC code. You just burn the DVD and replace your existing one.

Hey guys, why would you purchase the usb from BMW when you can get a free download? Am I missing something here? Before I pull the trigger on this, Id like to hear the reasoning for spending $40 for the oem instead of $15 for a usb stick to download the update.

Quite simple… Let me tell you why I did it. When trying to download the maps for free it was going to take a few days to get all the files as the server was bogged down from everyone else doing the same thing. Another reason is that some people have downloaded corrupt files making them need to download them again. If you are close to me for $15.00 I’ll loan you my USB stick at my place to perform the update. This guarantees the update as it came straight from BMW and makes my $40.00 investment less .

Update: Looks like you drive an E46 so this does not even apply.

Thanks for that info. I appreciate the offer. I will take you up on it if I run into any issues.

The E46 was my previous car. I'm in a 2011 E90 now so that's why I was trying to figure all this out.

North America NEXT 2014-2 has been added to the main post. It's a big update and will require a 64gb USB stick in order to load.

I've a german M3 2010 and would like to update my data for Europe. Will you be able to generate me a FSC Code too?

Are there any other changes beside the Nav data? E.g. New features or whatsoever?

If I run across them, I'll post them. I bought the CCC DVDs myself since I have a CCC in one of my cars, but haven't had a reason to get the HIGH DVDs for the older vehicles.
