Road America 10/13/13.

Just got back from a Road America and finally got some dry laps there for the first time in 2 years! Saturday it poured so just basically threw that day out, but Sunday was a beautiful day and wanted to make the most of it...First session out, cold, 45, and was great to feel some grip out there, but still too cold to really do anything, 2:45 Second session out and things warmed up a bit and managed 2 laps in the 2:38 area. Was amazed how big of a spread there was between 2 sessions only an hour apart in terms of lap times. Just goes to show you how much temps can affect tire performance. Third I took out a passenger for a spin so not pushing things. Final session, there were 2 more that day, but both my daughters were up with me and were both pretty sick so had to make it a half day and get back...

managed to break into the 2:37's!


Same session and had a great time keeping up with a GT-R and a ZR-1. Think I definitely could have broke into the 2:36's if a lot of these laps weren't interrupted as both the ZR-1 and GT-R run in the mid to high 2:30's. What a great way to end the day and not bad for a 4 door on street tires, but notice how much faster they are in the straights. It's pretty ridiculous

Nice driving and great times dude.

What was all over the kink in the first vid??

Liking the new tires?

I delayed on registering for this event and got closed out. Filled up well ahead of time. Great conditions.. Next year.

Thanks bud! Loving the new tires, crazy thing is, the thing I like the most is that they're more comfortable on the street, crazy : also, that was the aftermath of someone dumping fluid in the kink the day before and that is the detergent I believe they used to clean it up...took a bit to get used to seeing that and trusting it had grip, especially at the kink, but it was fine. The long winter of our discontent approaches

Rocking the AD08R's now...unfortunately the set didn't last too long as picked up a large piece of shrapnel in my rear and a slow leak passenger front, so looks like the winter set till next year. They are more comfy than the standard AD08's, and seem faster although tough to tell as hadn't really had a dry lap at RA in awhile, but they do seem at least .5-1 sec faster a lap if i had to go by added grip i felt...Happy with the tires

have you ever tried re11? I am curious how the ad08r stack up.

and do you run the ad08r full time on the street also?

I've only run the AD08's and now the R's and yes, these are my full time street summer tires. Will probably run these all next year and then maybe move on to stickier rubber, but living downtown Chicago limits the space I have for dedicated wheels/tires, so these are a fantastic compromise performance tire.

Awesome videos! Road America is on my bucket list.

Great run in the 2nd video with the ZR1 and GT-R; really fun to watch. Shame about that Subaru blowing your lap time but at lest you got around reasonably quickly. I feel like I'm constantly stuck behind subarus. I mean god bless em but sheesh.

Yeah, that guy was tearing it up the day before, in the rain. Not so much in the dry

IMO, COTA is no better than Road America. Go to Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, TX...the 3.1m track is really challenging and awesome!

Also Hallet and NOLA are supposed to be top notch as well.

Will look into it as it does pass the 3 mile minimum requirement for me to leave the comfort of my blessed midwest

I have RE 11s and like them. Doesn't seem too grippy from start but stick like hell when things get warmed up. I am tempted to try AD08Rs though just for experiment.

Nice videos. I miss tracking my E90 badly. But E30 is fun too. Too bad we Midwesterns have winter brakes here. Can't wait for spring to be back on track.
