Day 1

Boarding the Eurotunnel at 1.30 in the morning!

Under the sea in a train - never gets old!

A third of the way down France and time for a power nap

Two-thirds of the way down France and we stop for our first puncture repair.

Day 2

Casino Square, Monte Carlo, and a lap of the Monaco GP circuit.

First mountain pass: Col de Turini and this marks the start of the Route des Grandes Alpes (Great Alpine Road).

On top of Col de Turini

View of the north side of Col de Turini

2nd mountain pass: Col de la Bonette

3rd pass: Col d’Izoard

Hotel for the night: Alliey & Spa in the village of Monetier-les-Bains in Serre Chevalier

Day 3

Morning! What a quaint hotel, and its views of the French Alps are just serene.

Some members of the hotel staff just can't get up for work!

Breakfast!

4th pass: Col du Galibier - lots of "cow-bell" noises !

Devil's Bridge

Amongst the many forts along the Route Des Grandes Alpes

5th pass: Col de l’Iseran (highest paved pass in the Alps)

View of Lac de Roselend after descending Col de l’Iseran.

Spotted an i8 as we were leaving Italy

Arrived Austria and although a little late, our hotel (Glocknerhof) fixed up some food specially for us.

Good morning! View of the Austrian Alps from our rooms.

Breakfast with a view!

Another view of the Glocknerhof Hotel

16th pass: Nockalmstrasse

Porsche Museum in Gmund, Austria, the birthplace of the first Porsche named vehicle - the Porsche 356.

Day 7

We depart from our 2nd hotel in Austria

And head straight for the 17th pass: Grossglockner High Alpine Road. We stopped along the pass to view Pasterze glacier near Grossglockner - at approximately 8.4 kilometers in length, it's the longest glacier in Austria and in the Eastern Alps reaching from the 3,453-metre Johannisberg to 2,100 metres above sea level.

Descending Grossglockner High Alpine Road

18th pass: Gerlos Alpenstrasse and the Krimml Wasserfall

Day 8

BMW Welt and the museum

The mountains provide a stunning backdrop for all the photos. Personal favorite is the panorama from Col du Galibier.

Thanks for documenting the adventure

The steaks were being seared by the very hot stones they were sitting on, so you can choose how you like it done .

Thank you to all! It took a great amount of time and effort to get this organised, given that we had to cover so much in a relatively short amount of time, but it was obviously worth every bit !

wow, I avoid the word epic because it's become so overused that its meaning has been diluted, but that is truly an epic road trip. thanks for taking the time with the photos/write-up.
